Another walk-around shot, from about the 7 o'clock position.
At top right you can clearly see the system used to mount the ascent stage
to the descent stage. Also, the deployable high gain antenna is visible
to the right as a white dish with a red star painted on it.
At the center is the mounting bracket for the main landing
gear, with the upward firing solid rocket motor that would have been used
to prevent the vehicle from tipping over on lunar touchdown.
The red CCCP and Hammer
and Sickle symbol, which epitomized the cold war to us baby boomers,
is clearly visible painted on the side of the vehicle.
The two gray cylinders at left were to have contained
the scientific apparatus which would have been used on the surface by the
lunar cosmonaut.
